Hernioplasty
Hernioplasty: For large incisional hernia, where significant volume of intestinal loops protrudes outside the abdominal cavity (through a gap in scar of previous operation) are replaced inside the abdomen, and the gap (called neck of the hernia) in closed. Weak abdominal muscles are then tightened and a prolene net is placed over it to strengthen the repair & prevent future recurrence of the hernia. The operation’s last step is similar to abdominoplasty procedure, here exccess redundant skin is removed and repair done in the lower abdomen (lower picture). The final shape is a flat abdomen with no bulges.
